As creative director, I formulated and executed a multidisciplinary marketing plan across various media channels. Augmented reality introduces a new dimension to the art gallery experience, inviting visitors to use their mobile device to flip through Hokusai's illustrated books and watch his masterworks come to life. For the branding of the show, I was challenged with selecting a font and colors that would mesh well with the contrasting aesthetics of both artists. I employed a blue with a font that had both a bold enough weight to match the striking nature of Ushio’s boxing paintings, as well as a slim version to pair with the delicate linework of Noriko’s etchings. With traditional Japanese motifs rendered in bold, festive colors, the event branding also incorporates the zodiac sign for that respective year. Initial ideas are sketched out and reviewed by the client before we proceed to digital illustration. As associate director of the gallery, I created the visual branding for the exhibition. For the printed invitation and newspaper advertisements, I went with a muted orange set against a hue of blue that was subtle enough so as not to fight with the powerful beast in Kuniyoshi’s image. &nbsp;An exhibition book was also published featuring all of the curated works alongside text about the legends depicted. One lantern can light up the steps in front of you, but many lanterns together can brighten up a path forward, illustrating the collective impact of voting.
