The New York chapter of Japanese American Citizens League announced a competition to design a new logo. My submission was selected amongst several applicants. JACL has a 90-year history of advocating for the civil rights of Japanese Americans and others who are fighting social injustice. I envisioned a logo that utilizes both Japanese and American cultural elements, imbued with imagery of freedom and justice that the organization continues to fight for.
